In 1976, the Nixon hotel site was purchased and Morgan Center on the Diamond opened its doors on January 1, 1978. Twenty years later the entire building was remodeled including a whole new façade and upgrades on all five floors of the interior. This tied in the Nextier Bank headquarters moving into Morgan Center in 1998 occupying the entire first floor.
